Whetstone Flattener

 This Whetstone Flattener is another useful tool to have in your knife sharpening kit. After repeated use, the surface of your whetstone will become uneven, and this unevenness will make it difficult for you to maintain a uniform sharpening stroke and  a consistent sharpening angle. The only solution, is to flatten the surface of your whetstone.

 This Whetstone Flattener is our recommended way of flattening your whetstones because it has great grinding power and is ease to use.

 If the surface of your whetstone is very uneven or dished, you can use the grooved side of the Whetstone Flattener to flatten your whetstone. This side provides more grinding power/pressure and will allow you to quickly flatten your whetstone. Subsequently, you can use the flat side of the Whetstone Flattener to make the surface of the whetstone completely flat.

 The Whetstone Flattener can also be used to smooth and round-over the sharp corners and edges that your whetstone will develop once it has been flattened. This is an important maintenance step, since the sharp edges can cut your fingers. This procedure will also prevent the edges of your stone from breaking apart during sharpening, which can lead to large scratches or nicks in your cutting edge.

*Please Note* : This Whetstone Flattener needs to be soaked in water for approximately 10 minutes before it is used (Until bubbles stop coming out of the whetstone).
